TRUE BLUE ZerØ CO2

10 Star Home

(10 Stars in NatHERS Climate zone 17 such as Sydney, NSW)

True Zero Carbon Challenge

(Residential Design & Energy Modelling Competition)

By overlaying key materials onto a conventional timber framed house we managed to achieve a 10 Star NatHERS rating with Net-Zero resulting in 2040 (Sydney).

We’re proud of our entry’s achievements & the additional services we can now offer to our clients such as understanding #NZP #NetZeroPotential. - (carbon neutrality) (ultimately, roadmaps for housing in terms of shifting towards being carbon-positive vessels).

We were equally excited to find a more localised version of the same house in Adelaide, SA would achieve a 9 Star NatHERS rating, reaching carbon positive status earlier, within 17 years (by in 2039) so there’s some good news for our South Australian based clients..

What the judges said:

‘A light bright 10 star passive solar design, True Blue Co2 takes thermal bridging seriously with slab edge insulation and compressed straw external sheathing to the 140mm stud face. Sequenced insulation installation instructions and blower door requirements are detailed in the plans to ensure thermal performance on the ground. The outside is clad with battened off low embodied carbon fibre cement, compressed timber board, combined with standing seam metal cladding, all well known to trades, and widely available products in the market. Doorways, ramps and circulation spaces follow accessibility guidelines, and the rear living faces onto the deck and fruit forest beyond, beckoning occupants to the outdoors.

True Blue Co2 is a high performance modern home, that follows the designers philosophy of Sustainability by Stealth. Lucky owners just enjoy the comfort, treading lightly is guaranteed by design.’
