Large North facing windows bring in the winter sun and orient the living area towards the owner’s private open space whilst taking advantage of the passive heating potential, with large overhangs and timber verandahs providing summer cooling.

Preliminary results achieved close to 0.6ACH (Passive House standard). Final result demonstrated requirement for centralised, ducted heat recovery which was easily incorporated into home due to the ceiling design.

3m high ceilings also feature throughout the open plan area to create a more spacious and light filled volume.

The style of the traditional hip & gable roof with a twist, with the hip roof facing south and the gables facing north, culminating in a traditional but modern form with simple and constructible shapes, creating a fairly unique design outcome.
