SIPs House, Normanville SA

Project Info
This modern colourful house was initially conceived based on the footprint of two 40 foot shipping containers, stacked on top of four 20 foot containers with a gap in-between. Once it was understood just home much time, money and energy would be buried into modifying steel boxes to make a house, the concept evolved into an energy efficient, compact house with a colourful beach vibe; channeling the forms of a modern ‘nordic’ or Scandi’ retreat.
Designed as a solar passive home with large northern windows, this design is constructed using SIPs panels which are a structurally insulated panel; a sandwich panel that provides continuous insulation.
