SIPs House, Normanville SA

Project Info

This modern, colorful house was initially conceived using the footprint of two 40-foot shipping containers stacked on top of four 20-foot containers, with a gap in between. Realising the time, money, and energy required to modify steel containers, the concept evolved into an energy-efficient, compact house with a colorful beach vibe, channeling the forms of a modern Nordic or Scandinavian retreat.

Designed as a solar passive home with large northern windows, this house is constructed using structurally insulated panels (SIPs), which are sandwich panels providing continuous insulation.

This innovative design not only maximizes energy efficiency but also creates a vibrant and inviting living space that blends modern aesthetics with practical functionality.
