High Performance Home, Carrick Sands SA

Project Info
We worked very closely with the client of this modern brick veneer home. Clare, a star student of Undercover Architect’s ‘Home Method,’ came to Harmonic Design with a well-formed design brief for a high-performance home.
The site had an encumbrance that imposed fixed design parameters, including a requirement for 40% masonry and limits on wall heights. This resulted in a ‘beach house’ with a more urban look and feel, softened and warmed by materials and finishes such as full recycled bricks, polished concrete, zincalume metal sheeting, and Weathertex timber cladding boards.
The home is designed and constructed using PassiveHaus principles. The builders are certified PassiveHaus trades and achieved a high level of air-tightness using various building wraps, airtight window frames, and meticulous attention to detail.
Key Features:
High Air-Tightness Rating: The home achieved a very high air-tightness rating, making the centrally ducted heat recovery unit a sensible inclusion, which benefits from reduced energy consumption and clean internal air.
This modern design-take on a brick-veneer home not only meets the client's high-performance requirements but also creates a comfortable and energy-efficient living environment.
